I use my work to explore the nuanced relationship between female and male gaze, interwoven with the vibrant color palettes of the Fauves. With this, I hope to foster a dialogue on equality and agency for the female body. Focusing on the traditionally masculine term, Flaneur, I explore the idea of the feminine Flaneuse and her experience with modern urban life. As I operate in this sentiment throughout my creative process, I not only flip a position firstly designed only to be occupied by men, but also allow it to serve as a critique against the men designed to occupy. Ultimately, my artistic process is a continuous journey of self-discovery and introspection. They are both a reflection and documentation of my emotions and life through the lens of a female gaze. I invite my viewers to join me in self reflection where the vibrant hues of Fauvism contradict the narratives of women, the nude, and the self.
